Colton Cochran Fever 1793

Fever 1793 is a book about a girl called mattie surviving the Yellow Fever. My favorite scene is when Mattie is fighting robbers that intruded her home. Mattie and Grandpa had just gotten back to the coffeehouse. The coffeehouse was destoyed so Mattie was being responsible and mature and taking care of Grandpa. She decided to rest downstairs because it was hot. Then she woke up because she heard taling of people. There was 2 people that were breaking in through the window. Then Mattie backed herself into a corner in the darkness. One of the men was going to check something that was in the corner and then he got to close to Mattie. Mattie said “We’ve already been robbed.” which the intruder did not believe. He tied her hands together. The noise caused grandfather to come down stair’s and shot the intruder who was hurting mattie. After grandpa shot at the intruder with a rifle, he was weak. The gun blast had knocked him backwards. The intruder started to punch grandpa. Then Mattie grabbed grandpa’s sword and stabbed the intruder in the shoulder. Mattie chased him away after fighting the intruder. This scene is important because it shows how responsible Mattie is being during a hard time. There is no food in the city and people are stealing.
