Storyboard Text

  • Occurred on July 14, 1789, by the mob that was joined by some of the King's soldiers. The mob didn't accept the surrender of the commander of the Bastille, de Launay and they killed him.

  • The four ways that Napoleon spreaded the French Revolution was by instituting the Napoleonic Code, spreading nationalism, transmitting French culture, and establishing Puppet Governments.

  • It was decided for the National Convention that Louis would be put on trial for crimes that he committed. In the Convention, there was some real debating going on about whether Louis should be killed or not because of his crimes. It was voted that Louis would be sentenced to death by a guillotine, which happened on January 23, 1793 in the Place de la Concorde where a statue of his predecessor, Louis XVI, once stood. His message on the scaffold says, "I forgive those who are guilty of my death."
