Becomes Candidate for Cuban People’s Party
Fidel Castro Overthrows Fulgencio Batista
After Colombian head of Liberal party was fatally shot a riot was caused in Bogota, Colombia. This was one of Fidel Castro’s first time showing himself to a “revolutionary situation”.
Moncada Barracks Attack
After Castor graduated from law school, he joined Cuban People’s Party. He became the candidate for a seat in the House of Representatives. Before the voting was to happen Gen. Fulgencio Batista overthrew the government and cancelled the elections.
JFK Sets up training camp in Guatemala
Fidel Castro over threw the president of Cuba, Gen. Fulgencio Batista, and became president. The crowd yells and chants ”Fidel, Fidel, Fidel”.
Bay of Pigs
Castro made a rebel force after Batista overthrew the government. With his rebel force they were to attack a building in Moncada. The attack ended up being a suicide attack with most men dead and Fidel and Raul, Fidel Castro’s brother, arrested and was sentenced to 15 years. Due to a political amnesty they were released early.
JFK didn’t like that Cuba, a country 100 miles away from the United States, was a communist country. He then decided to start training camps in Guatemala to invade Cuba.
When the United States first invaded they failed to bomb their designated target. That led Castro to be more observative on what JFK plans to do to Cuba.
