- This is Jack. He was a stock trader in the year 2007. Life was good. He was able to make a comfortable living by trading stock. The GDP was rapidly growing and unemployment rates were very low. Unfortunately this would be the peak in the economy for quite some time.
- Slide: 2
- While in his office in early 2008, Jack noticed that for the past several months, his stock values had been declining. GDP was also declining and unemployment rates were rising. When he saw this, Jack knew the economy was going through a contraction. In a panic he sold all of his stocks at a lot value.
- After the stock market crash of 2008, Jack could no longer support himself. He lost his house and was forced to live on the streets. GDP was at an all time low and the unemployment rates was very high at this time as well. This economic period is known as a trough

- In the years following the stock market crash, Jack was able to get back on his feet and buy a new home. he also got a new position as a venture capitalist. The economy was in an expansion as well. The GDP was growing and unemployment rates were low.
