Storyboard Text

  • "Before my pen has glean'd my teeming brain."
  • "Hold Like Rich Garners the Full Ripened Grain."
  • In the Sonnet by John Keats, there are several poetic devices that are used. One is assonance, and the other is imagery. A perfect example of this can be found in line 3. Here the words, "High-piled" create the assonance because the vowel I creates an effect that is carried from the I in High to the I in Piled and provides that echoing sound when read aloud. Another example can also be found in line prior, Line 2. Glean'd and Teeming share the vowel e. This sound contributes to the overall message of the poem because it exaggerates the sense of longing that Ketas and can be transferred to the long E's or long I's. The other device that plays an important role is imagery. Although it is a relatively simple poetic device, it still can change the way we interpret the significance. For example, Keats uses the "garners" as a may to show storage. In this case, Storage of his thoughts. Without this it may be harder to understand what point he is trying to deliver.
