- Macbeth and Banqou are returning from battle and meet the three witches. The witches tell them about the three prophesies. They say Macbeth will be Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and then King. Banqous future generations will be kings.
- Act 3, Scene 4
- Are you a man?
- Lady Macbeth reads the teller from Macbeth telling her of the three prophesies. She craves the power of being Queen. She plans to kill King Duncan but worries Macbeth isn't ruthless enough to commit murder. She prays to be ruthless and cruel.
- Lady Macbeth drugged the guards and awaits Macbeths return. Macbeth carries out the killing and then returns to Lady Macbeth hysterical and covered in blood. Lady Macbeth takes over and makes them both appear innocent by framing the guards.
- After Banqou had been killed in the darkness, Fleance escapes. Later, at the state banquet Lady Macbeth and Macbeth welcome their guests. Macbeth hears of the news that Fleance has escaped and begins to feel overwhelmed, loosing control and seeing Banqou's ghost.
- Lady Macbeth has taken her own life due to the built up guilt as she could no longer take it. Macbeth is so heavily effected by his actions he no longer feel emotion and isn't effected by his wife's passing. Malcolm and the population of Scotland are now plotting on killing Macbeth.
