- Story takes place in the house of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard where Mrs. Mallard is with her sister Josephine.
- Climax
- I am free now!!! No more man here to control my every move!
- Mrs. Mallard just receives the news that her husband had passed away, making her sister Josephine nervous because Mallard had a weak heart. The last thing Josephine wanted was for her sister to have a heart attack, so she tried to calmly tell her the news instead of flat out saying what had happened.
- Falling Action
- WHAT?!?!? YOU ARE ALIVE?????
- Mrs. Mallard looks out the window, examining all of the nature that seems to bring joy to her. The sky, sounds, and color of the outside bring a sense of how she feels about the whole situation with her husband.
- Conclusion
- NOOOOO!!!!!
- As Mrs. Mallard thinks over the new situation, she has an interesting reaction. It is expected for her to be sad, but instead, she feels liberated now that her husband no longer has control over her.
- Mrs. Mallard falls in a state of shock because her husband comes back, telling her that her partner is still alive.
- The surprise hits Mrs. Mallard so hard, that she dies from a heart attack right in front of her husband. Now the husband is left with no wife and has to grieve for his loss.
