- Yeah, that Cherry girl is helpin us get you twos safe
- Really? I thought she was just being polite at the movies
- I want to turn myself in. I can't do this anymore, it's not fair to anyone and I'll probably be let off easy.
- I'm sorry Johnny, I'm not mad at you, its just that...
- Dallas reveals the news that a Soc is helping the boys get to safety. The boys would have never thought that Cherry would have volunteered to help them get out of trouble.
- Johnny tells his friends that he wants to turn himself in. Hastily, Dallas is quick to scold him. However Johnny is sure that right now is best to turn himself in so that he doesn't cause trouble for anyone else. This causes an uproar between him and Dallas.
- After Dallas and Johnny's row, Dally reveals that he actually cares deeply for Johnny and only wants what is best for him. This means finding a way for him to get a lessened sentence so that he doesn't end up like Dally.
- The three boys find the church to be on fire with children still inside and in danger. Pony boy and Johnny ran inside and managed to elude all the children from the burning fire.
- Delirious from the smoke and ashes that trapped him in the church, Ponyboy tells a total stranger about all that had happened in the past weeks. None of it seemed to matter though as he felt happy to finally have gotten the secret lifted from his shoulders.
- The three brothers finally put their fighting to the side and they have a touching reunion for all three of them. The chapter ends with the boys back to loving each other and with a family reunited.
