- Texas Revolution
- It all started when Spain owned Louisiana. In 1762 Spain gave Louisiana to France in a secret treaty. Thomas Jefferson was nervous for what might Napoleon do since he was so close the colonies. Thomas Jefferson sent men to buy New Orleans from Napoleon, but Napoleon didn't even want the whole colony anymore. So then they bought Louisiana for 15 Million dollars almost doubling the size of the colonies
- War With Mexico
- Andrew Jackson created the American Indian Removal policy. He was looking to expand his land and kick out he indigenous tribes that lived on that land. The 5 tribes that were kicked out their land were the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Seminole, and Creek.
- Oregon Territory
- Please we need the land, we are willing to fight for it!
- It all started when Mexico allowed American settlers to have land in their state but they had to turn into a Mexican citizen and turn Catholic. At first it was great because they had freedom and tax breaks but soon Mexico broke their constitution and people lost their tax breaks and freedom. Soon people wanted to make Texas its own state away from Mexican rule. The first shot was in the town of Gonzales. The Mexicans went into Texas to take their weapons but Texans did not oblige leading to Texas shooting. The next battle was the Alamo, Texans were surrounded in the Alamo and Mexicans surrounded them fighting for days.

- In 1846 the United States was at war with Mexico. It all started when America had the idea that they wanted to have their land go from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean. There were two things that stood in their way, first the Oregon territory was in their way, second Mexico owned the Southern and Western lands. America was trying to defend the Rio Grande river from the Mexicans, so they went to fight.
- So it all started when America wanted to expand to the "Oregon Country" well now Canada. Britain controlled this land but America wanted it. James Polk was soon elected as president promising to add the Oregon country to the United states. He told Britain he would go to war for this country but he was bluffing. They both agreed that Americas northern border would run along the 49 parallel. James Polk wanted as much as he could get so he asked Britain to extend from coast to coast and Britain said sure. Lost of people went to this new state and they had to kick American Indians off the land for settlers.

- In this speech, Black Hawk talks about how Americans took him and his warriors prisoned. He tried to fight the Americans but they had guns so they shot most of them. And tortured the rest of the warriors still alive
