- ASSESS PATIENT'S ABDOMINAL PAIN
- Nurse, the pain is 8 out of 10. At the area between my belly button and chest. It occurs every 20 to 30 minutes, lasting for a few minutes.
- Not okay nurse, my stomach hurts so much po every time it cramps up.

- Ma'am from a pain scale of 0 being the least, painful and 10 being the most painful. How painful are your abdominal cramps? and How often does it occur and where?

- ADMINISTERED MEDICATION
- Administered Omeprazole 80mg and infused 8mg/hr for 72 hours in Plain LR, as ordered. Monitored and recorded IO, as well as NGT tube for infection
- It's a familiar medication for me already. Thank you.
- Good morning ulit Ma'am, I've brought your medicine po, Omeprazole 80 mg. It's supposed to lessen the acid in your stomach to allow for your ulcers to heal. I've also brought a cup of water for your convenience po. I'll also be infusing omeprazole into your IV bag for faster absorbtion and action. Are you familiar with this medication po?
- PROVIDED DIVERSIONAL ACTIVITIES and NONPHARMACOLOGIC PAIN METHODS
- Okay po Ma'am, here are some heating pads to help deal with the pain. Just place it on the area that is cramping to help loosen the muscles. I'll be back to check your vital signs again in 4 hours.
- Ma'am, would you prefer to rest or would you like for me to turn on the TV or play some music as a distraction from the pain?
- Sige nurse, playing some music would be nice.

- Wala naman nurse, it's just my stomach.

- Nurse, medyo naglessen ang sakit. I think 4 out of 10 na po.
- That's good to hear po. Is there anything else that hurts Ma'am, other than the pain in your stomach?
