- Hello everybody! Over the past couple weeks we looked into different learning theories that support our approach to online learning. And after reading and understanding all the different theories, I believe that the theory that best fits me is learning by doing.
- Being a computer science student, I found that the best way to learn coding is by doing it myself. By only reading about what I had to do, I was unable to retain the information too well.
- Along with that, I grew up playing sports. And the only way to get better at the sport is by doing it. Thats why I think my experience in sports is a main factor on why I learn best by doing.
- Learning by doing means lots and lots of repetition, and for me when I repeat tasks many times it becomes easier for me to understand, and starts to become second nature which means I can start applying that information to the real world.
- Does this Theory help you in Em203?
- It sure does! EM203 is all about learning in the digital world, which means we get to work hands on when completing assignments and projects.
- Take the Twitter challenges for example, each week we are given a task to complete that requires students to experience Twitter first hand. With this hands on approach it becomes easier to understand how Twitter works and gives us great insight on the digital world.
- How did your theory help with this assignment
- The cool part about EM203 is that we get to learn about new ways of portraying a message and learning new things in the digital world. That is why I decided to do a comic strip. This is something I had never done before, but I was able to pick it up very quickly because I was the one making the comics. Being able to create the comics instead of just reading them made the learning process much easier.
- The digital world is fast moving and every useful to learn. Therefore knowing what your learning theory is very important and everybody should look into it.
