- ... I just feel this pain in my chest and it's hard to breathe have noticed my feet are swelling. Can you please tell me what's wrong?
- that swelling is called Edema. It's caused by too much fluid trapped in the body's tissues
- do you think she may be suffering from a heart attack? blood might have backed up into the veins in her legs causing them to swell
- The scan provides us with two images of your lungs. The Ventilation shows where the air flows to in your lungs and the Perfusion shows where the blood flows to in the lungs
- While the doctor was looking over your vitals, she suggested we do a V/Q scan
- "V/Q" stands for ventilation quantification. We use this scan to get a better look at your lungs
- A V/Q scan? what's a V/Q scan?
- a pulmonary embolism is a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in your lung. your Perfusion showed a large area where blood was not flowing. This is most likely due to a clot blocking that blood flow :(
- however after looking at your Perfusion in your lungs, I believe you have Pulmonary Embolism
- oh doctor am I having a heart attack? a lung attack? please just tell me
- you are not having a heart attack. we checked your Tropin I protein levels and they are normal. Those proteins are produced when the heart is damaged. If you did have a heart attack then your levels would be much higher...
