- It had been a long, autumn in the little town ofEverwood. Days blended into nights under heavy grey clouds, and the streetsseemed coated in a layer of dullness. People walked with their heads down,wrapped in coats, hurrying along, avoiding the drizzle that seemed to neverend. Even the trees looked tired, their branches bare and brittle.Then, one morning, just as the sun began to peek overthe horizon, something magical happened.

- Danny, a 12-year-old boy with straight hair and he andbad acne was the first to notice. As he opened his window a shining lightfilling every corner of his room He blinked, rubbed his eyes, and looked out.The sky was a perfect shade of blue clear, bright, and impossibly wide.“Is that Mr.Blue Sky?!” Danny whispered with wonder.

- He dashed outside, feeling the warm sunlight caressinghis face. The town square was buzzing with excitement. People stepped out oftheir houses, faces upturned, soaking in the light. Old Mrs. Finch smiled, thefirst genuine smile anyone had seen in months. The flowers in the park seemedto straighten their heads, reaching toward the sun as if waking from a longsleep.
