- Jessica's family did not have much money so she needed to eat the free school lunch. The only problem was that the drink that came with the free lunch was milk
- No, you can't have something else, that is what comes with the free school lunch
- MILK
- GOT MILK???
- In school, Jessica learned about how the government continues to push consumption of milk despite the fact that most people of color can not digest it, and that this is nutritional racism.
- Still, the US government continues to actively promote milk as a dietary staple for all demographics
- A majority of African Americans, Asian Americans,Hispanic Americans, and Indigenous Americans lose the ability to digest lactose after infancy
- Class, this is an example of "nutritional racism" as lactase impersistence is in fact the global norm

- Jessica wanted to do something to solve all her troubles with lactose. The next day she met with the principle to explain her new ideas for the school lunch. The principle thought her ideas were great and she was happy to make a change in her life and others at her school
- Those are some really interesting points! I will talk to the lunch workers and see what I can do!
- So, I propose instead of milk being included in our school lunches we should have water.
- The majority of people at this school can't properly digest milk, and there's evidence that our bodies don't even need milk past infancy.
