- When Bud is sleeping he is woken up by someone, it's his friend Bugs! They are really happy they ran into each other and decide that since they are both on the run, they will stick together like brothers. This leads them to make a choice and go to Hooverville so that they can take the train west. They flip a coin and agree on what they should do.
- When Bug and Bugs get to Hooverville, they get fed and treated nicely. To return that favor though, they had to wash the dishes. While Bud and Bugs are placed on opposite sides of the "kitchen," a girl named Deza decides to talk to Bud. She explains how tough life can be but also the wonders of it. She gives him a kiss and the day ends so they get ready for sleep. Bud checks his suitcase and takes out the flyer of his mom. He hugs it tight and heads to sleep, ready for whenever the train comes.
- Bud and Bugs are woken up by the train and are ready to leave but Bud forgets something so he is delayed while Bugs runs to the train. Bud picks up his things and heads to the train but the train starts moving. Bud tries to catch up but it is too late, he is alone again. With this happening, he decides to go back to Flint. He thinks maybe he should stay at Flint like Deza said.
