  • James's Time Machine Adventures
  • Slide: 2
  • James is a 30 year old man who moved to the Unites states at the age of 25 to work for some land. In England land prices were only rising, leaving him struggling to find a property to own. James cares very strongly about owning land and had always wished to own some of his own. James works for 5 years in the United States, leading him to earn 160 acres of land. While working in the United States James Works on building a time machine in his free time. He then uses this time machine to explore the future, hoping to learn and eventually return to his farm to live in peace.
  • Slide: 3
  • My name is Peter. I have worked here in the United States for the past 5 years because of the Homestead Act of 1862.
  • I have finally earned my land and finished my time machine
  • Slide: 4
  • Once I read a book about the 1900s. I wonder if the real 1900s are the same
  • Lets take a whirl in the time machine.
  • Slide: 7
  • Who are you and how did you just appear here?
  • 1936
  • My name is Peter. I come from 1869. What is this huge bridge you are building?
  • Slide: 8
  • This is a part of the Workers Program Association. The construction of this bridge is allowing new job opportunities to us who need it during the depression.
  • Seriously though, how did you get here?
  • 1936
  • Like I said, My name is Peter. I Built a time machine back home and I wanted to see what the future is like.
  • Oops! I forgot to set the time.
  • Slide: 9
  • Hey!We can take his machine and sell it
  • Thats not a bad idea.
  • 1936
  • Wow! People in the future are very greedy. I should probably get going before i get into any trouble
  • I guess you haven't heard of COVID then. There is a huge sickness going around so everyone is indoors. no one can work due to the virus
  • Slide: 10
  • Hes getting away!
  • Slide: 11
  • Dude! What just happened?
  • Oh, my name is Peter. I just time traveled. Where is everyone? Why are you the only person on the street?
  • Slide: 12
  • Why are you out here then? How do people make money?
  • I don't own a home so I have no where else to go. Many people are losing their jobs. for many people the stimulus checks are their only source of money.
  • Slide: 13
  • Whats that?
  • The government is sending financial help to those in need, but i haven't received mine yet.
  • Many of the homeless population is struggling to receive their Stimulus checks on time, however we are promised to receive the same financial assistance as the rest of the population.
  • Slide: 14
  • Well I'd better get back home. I hope you get your check soon!
  • Thanks a lot Peter!
  • Slide: 16
  • Today I learned a lot about the evolution of the United States.
  • Over time, the roles and expectations of the United States government have evolved, leading to a government that helps its people when in need.
  • During the Great Depression the government offered jobs to the struggling people of the United States willing to work, but struggling to find jobs in hopes of helping them out of poverty. Later on during the COVID pandemic the government provided stimulus checks to assist the people when they could no longer work
  • Slide: 17
  • For example, the government provided me the 160 acres of land, however I needed to work in the United States in order to earn the land.
  • Slide: 18
  • Although imperfect, the government continued to attempt to assist the people in the United States as different adversities struck.
  • I wonder how the United States government will continue to expand even further on in the future.
