Here is a summary of some of the events of the French Revolution.
The Meeting of the Estates-General
Your taxes are unfair! How come we, the poorest of the estates, pay the most taxes?

The March on Versailles
Thanks to you, we can't even eat!
On May 5, 1789, King Louis XVI called the Estate General Meeting because of the Third Estate's excessive taxes. Because of the meeting's voting system, the Third Estate would always be outvoted by the First and Second Estates. After trying to figure out how each estate would vote, the Third Estate called itself the “National Assembly”, and made their own laws and helped run the country.
The Rise of Napoleon
On July 20, 1789, rumors started to spread about nobles paying mercenary soldiers to terrorize peasants. The peasants broke into the nobles’ manors to destroy tax papers and burn down the manor houses.
On October 1789, women stormed the palace and demanded that the king and queen go back to Paris because the cost of bread was so high that they could not afford it.
Napoleon was sent to a military school when he was nine years old and became a lieutenant at age 16. On October 1795, Napoleon fought and won against royalists, who tried to attack people who supported the French Revolution. After this event, the people saw him as the hero of the hour and the savior of the French Republic.
I shall become the greatest leader the world has ever seen!
