In 1526, Cabeza de Vaca was a member of the Narvaez expedition while exploring Florida. The expedition got lost and was forced to sail and build boats back to Mexico in 1528. The ships got caught in a hurricane and several men including Cabeza de Vaca were shipwrecked on Galveston Island. From 1528 - 1536, Cabeza de Vaca and some men traveled across to Texas from tribe to tribe. They came across the Native American tribe and used their knowledge to remain friendly with them.
Coronado and over 1,000 men went on the search for gold in the city in 1540. They discovered the Grand Canyon, the Pacific Ocean, and the Palo Duro Canyon. As they discovered those, there was no gold to be found. The Spanish ignored Texas until another country took interest in Texas in 1685.
La Salle was already a famous French explorer once he arrived in Texas in 1685. He explored the length of the Mississippi River. As he arrived in Texas, he convinced the King of France to establish a colony at the mouth of the Mississippi River. La Salle let out 4 ships with supplies and colonists. On his way, he lost a ship and a pirate.
