  • The Mexican government has decided to give away land but you have to live by our rulesTheir are 4 rules that you have to follow.1.) You have to obey Mexican laws.2.) Slavery is banned.3.)You have to convert to Catholicism.4.) You have to learn Spanish.
  • Yet the settlers did not follow these rules.

  • Because Texans wanted independence and they started to rebel and so Santa Anna gathered a force of 1000s and to stop the rebellion and they fought with the army at Alamo and won.
  • We don't want to follow your rules anymore, we want independence!
  • No!
  • Then they chased untrained soldiers that reorganized at San Jacinto River and the Texans took a stand Santa Anna believed he would win and was careless in choosing where his forces camped. Houston and his men swarmed the Mexican camp and won.
  • Slide: 3
  • The Texas Revolution ended with Santa Anna getting captured and getting forced to sign a treaty giving Texas its independence.
  • We do not want to make Texas a state because we fear it will upset the balance between free and slave states. We also don't want war with Mexico.
