Patina part 2

Patina felt happier on the track rather than at school so instead of sitting down to eat during lunch, she ran around the cafeteria.
"There was never enough seats, which was okay, because I never sat down anyway. I would basically just do a few laps around the room."
Patina wanted to run away from her problems. A lot of bad things happened in her life and to make up for it all she wanted to do was run and win.
What are you doing? How come you're not sitting?
"See I try to be nice to the new girl but she always correcting me. And being all goody goody, like she think she better than us."
Patina had a hard time fitting in with her track team and getting along with them. She was running for herself not the team.
"I don't think I'm better than y'all. I think I'm better than you. I Just am. You run like your feet made of oatmeal. I'm faster because I work harder."
Her Ma believes in her though. She always says "Patty ain't no junk."
Patina had to take on a lot of responsibility starting a while ago when her moms legs were amputated like taking care of her little sister Maddy. Things were stressful and she had hard time asking for help.
