  • HUBRIS

  • PERIPETEIA

  • Antigone believes she knows the will of the gods, and acts in direct contradiction of Creon’s decree. She wants to be a martyr and bury her brother
  • ANAGNORISIS
  • Antigone is to be set free at once!
  • Antigone sets herself above the laws of her king uncle and, unapologetically defying Creon and being disobedient.
  • NEMESIS
  • Tiresias convinces Creon to free Antigone.
  • CATHARSIS
  • The audience knows what Antigone does not: Creon is on his way to pardon her.
  • Antigone begun to hang herself when the Creon can arrive.
  • can't believe I'm too late. now what do I do!!
  • The audience is sad that Antigone, Haemon, the Queen all died for Antigone's righteous pride. They recognize the same temptations to defy authority in their own lives.
