In my book I wrote long ago, I wrote how democracy is determined by civil society, my idea of civil society was that of group of people working towards nonpolitical goals and groups of people working for a common goal! This is how democracy should work!
Now that you understand the basics of personhood, we can now learn more about democracy from Alex De Tocqueville himself!

Personhood, " can be defined as an entitywhich is recognized by law as the subject ofrights and duties."
Some examples of this concept being used was during the 18th and 19th centuries to fight slavery
"Corporations gained personhood (notcitizenship) under the Equal ProtectionClause of the Fourteenth Amendment other rights (political religious) expandedover time."
So this is how the 14th amendment came to be and the stepping stone for why everyone in the US is a citizen!!!!
