- The Cuban war of independence was the war between Spain and Cuba. It was fought from 1895 to 1898. It was a liberation war for Cuba's freedom from Spain. The Cuban succeeded and won the war and gained their freedom.

- US imperialism was when America decided to extend their political economical and cultural influences across to other area's outside their boundaries. Other area's may include Philippines, Puerto Rico etc.

- The Maine was a U.S navy ship that sank in Havana harbor. An explosion caused by a mine broke the bottom of the ship resulting in it sinking.

- The Spanish American War was a war between America and Spain and lasted for about 9 months during 1898. It was caused by things like America supporting the freedom of Cuba from Spain and it ended in December with America winning.
