  •  Oxidative Phosphorylation is the last stage of Cellular Respiration. Just like Kreb's cycle, this stage requires oxygen. The NADH FADH2 that were produced in the last 2 stages are released into electron-transport chains in the mitochondria in its inner membrane. Then the oxygen joins with 2 hydrogen molecules in order to make water. If oxygen is not present in this stage, the process will be less effective. Oxygen is important in this stage as most of the energy is produced in this stage (around 32-34 ATP molecules)
