- Hey! My names is Zuri Benitez and this is my hood, Bushwick Avenue. I am spending the summer with my older sister Janae, who is in town from college. I enjoy writing poetry and am applying to colleges this summer.

- This is my Family.
- My name is Darius Darcy. My mother, father, brother and I just moved across the street from Zuri here at Bushwick.
- My name is Ainsley Darcy!
- We don't get along at first because Darius thinks he is too good for me and my family. I try to show him the pride I take in my hood and my family, to show him that we deserve some form of respect.
- This is Warren, we go out on a couple dates and I think I really like him. The more my sister Janae falls for Ainsley the more I start to push away from Darius and lean more towards Warren.
- As the summer progresses I visit the college I want to attend and stumble upon a poetry coffee shop while wandering around. I sign up tp preform one of my poems I've written and when I finish I find Darius in the crowd.
