- Exposition Stanley Yelnats Lives in an apartment and is extremely unlucky. His family was cursed because of his great great grandfather, because he couldn't fulfill a promise he made to a one legged gypsy named Madame Zeroni. All he had to do was carry Madame Zeroni to the top of a mountain and sing a specific song to her as she drank from a stream.

- Conflict Stanley gets accused for stealing a pair of sneakers that belong to a Professional baseball player.

- Rising action # 1 Stanley Yelnats' parents Stanley Yelnats III and Sarah Miller/Yelnats. His father is trying to find a way to recycle old sneakers. Stanley thought he could take those sneakers home to give to his father, but he couldn't.
- Rising action # 2 After Stanleys trial he is sentenced to 18 months at camp green lake. The first day he arrives he meets Mr. Sir, Mr. Pendancekey, Zero, Armpit, Zig Zag, X-ray, Magnet, and squid.

- Rising action # 3 The lake wasn't always like a dessert. It used to be full of water and there was also a town. The reason why the lake is like it is today is because, it's a long story so i'm going to shorten it. Kate Barlow was a school teacher who fell in love with a black onion picker. She kissed him and because it was illegal for a black man to kiss a white woman, he was going to get hanged but instead he got shot in his boat on the lake in front of Kate Barlow. Kate Barlow changed into a bandit after that, she was known as Kissing Kate Barlow. She buried treasure at camp green lake. She was forced to find it by the owners of the lake, but she got bitten by a yellow spotted lizard and died.
- Rising action # 3 At camp green lake, because there is no lake. The boys have to dig holes. Stanley is the last to finish his hole.
- Rising action # 4 After Stanleys done digging, he takes a shower. Mr. Sir told him to be careful not to get bitten by a yellow spotted lizard. He gets attacked by one but gets away.
- Rising action # 5 Stanley stays at camp for a while, they have to dig holes= punishment, and digs up a lipstick can. Before he could report it to the Mr. Pendancekey, X-ray takes it.
- Hey, Stanley give that to me.
- Rising action # 6 Stanley gets more respected by the other campers and they call him caveman. And the Warden comes out and all the campers dig a huge hole.
- Rising action # 7 Caveman teaches Zero how to read and write. Zero reveals his true name Hector Zeroni. And Zero digs a part of caveman's hole every day. All the other campers don't like that. The Warden, Mr. Sir, and Mr. Pendancekey find out. Zero than runs away from camp. ( Mr. Pendancekey got hit in the face by zero).
- Rising action # 6 A few days after zero ran away, a new kid named twitch came to camp. And a few days of digging holes later, caveman steals Mr. Sir's truck, crash's it, then runs away.

- Rising action # 8 Caveman finds Zero under a boat. He then convinces Zero to go back to camp, but he refuses. So instead He said they should go find refuge on gods thumb. He knows gods thumb because his great grandfather got robbed and abandoned in the dessert for 16 days. His father told him he found refuge on gods thumb.

- Rising action # 9 During their climb up to gods thumb, zero passes out and Caveman has to carry him up to the top of the mountain.
- Climax Caveman carries Zero or Hector Zeroni to the top of gods thumb. And sings to him the song specific song, as Zero drinks from the lake, Stanley Yelnats breaks the curse.

- Falling action # 1 Caveman and Zero decide to leave gods thumb and head back to camp to dig in the he found the lipstick can, which belonged to Kissing Kate Barlow.
- Falling action # 2 Caveman and Zero arrive at camp at night and start digging in the hole.
- Falling action # 3 Caveman and Zero find a treasure chest, but the Warden, Mr. Sir, and Mr. Pendancekey caught them. The problem is Caveman and Zero get surrounded by yellow spotted lizards
- Falling action # 4 Eventually Stanley and Hector get out of the hole. Camp Green Lake got shut down and Stanley and Hector were freed from camp. They leave because Stanleys father figured out how to recycle old sneakers, and he got a Lawyer. It ends up that the warden was looking for that chest her whole life.
- Resolution Stanley and Hector are reunited with their families, they become neighbors, and become rich. Their families through a huge party and thats how it ends. Oh one more thing the song. "If only, If only the woodpecker sighs. If the bark on the trees were a little bit softer. While the wolf waits alone hungry and lonely he cries to the moon. If only, If only".
