God promised Abraham and Sarah many children but Abraham andSarah were far too old to have children but Abraham had faith.
When Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90 the Lord blessed Sarah and she was going to have a child. After the baby was born Sarah said this brings me laughter and they both decided to name the child Isaac because it means “laughter”.
After Isaac was grown up God contacted Abraham to test him and God said “take Isaac to Moriah as he is the one you love and give him to me as a burnt offering”.
Early next morning Abraham woke up, grabbed his saddle put it on his donkey woke up Isaac and took him to Moriah, Abraham had cut enough wood for the burnt offering and put the wood for the burnt offering on Isaac and Abraham held the fire and knife.
Isaac spoke up “father we have to wood and fire but where is the lamb for the burnt offering” “Abraham replies “my son God will provide the lamb”.
Abraham built an altar and placed the wood on the altar and tied Abraham up, then pulled out his knife to offer Isaac.
But the angel of the Lord called out to him and said “Abraham!Do not lay a hand on your son. Now I know you respect God. You have not held back from me your only son.” Abraham looked up and saw a ram. It was caught by its horns. He took the ram and sacrificed it instead of his only son Isaac.
