- On the way to the hospital, a fresh graduate nurse named Jessie is excited to be on the first day of her job.
- This is it! My first day as a professional nurse. I can't wait to apply everything I've learned over the past 4 years.
- As she dropped her things at her locker. She goes at the reception area and another nurse endorses her what tasks and patients she needs to take care of for the day.
- I thought I would just be taking care of one patient today since this hospital is known for the 1:1 ratio. 1 nurse for 1 patient only. Anyway, I think my powers can handle these three.
- Good luck on your first day! Here are three patients for you. Kindly monitor them and indicate everything in that folder.
- Nurse Jessie needs to check on Alice's vital signs. Until Alice started to burst out her emotions to Nurse Jessie about the sadness she feels because of her immobility.
- Showing EMPATHY to the first patient (Alice) - Diagnosed with Osteoporosis
- Can you tell me more about your feelings? I'm here to listen to you. I understand how hard this is for you right now.
- I am so sad because I cannot move and go around like other normal people do. I am sick of completely staying here at the hospital and just lying down.
- Nurse Jessie needs to give tests to Raul, a cancer patient. Until Raul opened up the possibility of losing the chance to live longer because having cancer for is like the end of the world for him.
- You keep on doing these tests on me and giving me medication, but I still feel that my body is getting weaker as time goes by. I guess I will just wait for my body to shut down. I am tired of hoping to be cured.
- Being MOTIVATIONAL to the second patient (Raul) - Diagnosed with Leukemia
- Cancer is indeed a tough illness, but a lot of people have survived it, and I believe that you will be one of them. Healing takes time, so do not lose hope.
- Nurse Jessie needs to assist Eleanor from being discharged after being hospitalized for 2 days. As they both communicate, Eleanor asked a question that Nurse Jessie needs to answer correctly.
- Being an EDUCATOR to the third patient (Eleanor) - Diagnosed with HIV
- HIV is a disease that can be passed easily. I am afraid of passing this to random persons. Can you educate me ways on how I can protect others from me?
- That's a good question to ask. Well, you should never share needles and do donate blood, plasma, semen, or other organs. Also, use condoms if you are possible going to have sex.
- As the day ends, Nurse Jessie's day is done at the hospital, and it is time for her to go home. To sum up her day, she had a realization about encountering different patients.
- So, this is what it means to be a frontliner and an influencer. I performed well this day by having good attitudes and characteristics that a nurse should have. I am happy with the profession I've become. I get to help and take care of different persons.
