Storyboard Text

  • The Mayflower Ship
  • The Wampanoag were actuallyinvited to that Thanksgiving feast for the purpose ofnegotiating a treaty that would secure the lands of thePlymouth Plantation for the Pilgrims.
  • The Puritans/Pilgrims come to the new world(America) intending to overthrow the native americans to build their "Holy Kingdom"
  • (imagine hundreds of other ships as well)
  • Squanto, as the only educated Christian among the Wampanoag. He set in the wilderness to provide for the Pilgrims. Also, Squanto, had a very real love for a Britishexplorer named John Weymouth, who had become a secondfather to him several years before the Pilgrims arrivedat Plymouth. Clearly, Squanto saw these Pilgrims asWeymouth's people.
  • Corn soup, succotash, white fish, red meat, various fowl (turkey, partridge, duck), berries (including whole cranberries), maple sugar candies, corn starch candy (believe it or not, candy corn is almost authentic except for the colored dyes), watercress, any kind of bean (red, black, green, pinto), squash was just some things eaten at the first Thanksgiving. Also, it should be noted the Native Americans possibly out of a sense ofcharity toward their hosts, ended up bringing themajority of the food for the feast.
  • A generation later, after the balance of power hadindeed shifted, the Indian and White children of thatThanksgiving were striving to kill each other in thegenocidal conflict known as King Philip's War.
  • (Not Squanto
  • Imagine them fighting
  • At theend of that conflict most of the New England Indianswere either exterminated or refugees among the French inCanada, or they were sold into slavery in the Carolinasby the Puritans.
