The Tempest starts with Prospero sinking a hostile ship, inbound from Milan of where he was a duke. He was overthrown and then abandoned by his brother who was aboard this ship. Now, he had rescued multiple spirits on this island who owed him gratitude and raised a daughter, who wanted married to the prince.
ACT 3: CLIMAX
Intentionally, Prospero asks his chief of spirits, Ariel, to bring Prince Ferdinand towards her daughter Miranda and they instantly fell in love. Prospero had to pretend unhappy, but this was what he wanted.
