- Hello, I'm Greta Thunberg and I am a big environmental activist from Sweden
- Everybody has to reduce their carbon footprint if we want to live on this earth longer and have it survive for longer than expected. We need faster climate action and end the burning of fossil fuels.
- Here in this article we can see many scientists fighting for our rights to a clean environment by demanding climate action
- In the article is says, In Los Angeles, four scientists were arrested after handcuffing themselves to the entrance of a Chase bank. In Germany, scientists demonstrated outside the Ministry for Economy and Climate Protection. In England, they protested outside Shell PLC headquarters. They pasted documents to government buildings in Mexico, occupied an oil and gas company’s headquarters in Italy, and threw fake blood onto the facade of the National Congress in Spain.
- To bring awareness to this, the news tells us normal citizens to cut down on our carbon footprint and doesn't mention the big companies who are the actual problem. This is an example of status quo bias because those companies have always used big amount of fossil fuels so why change it now?
- Things have gotten so bad that scientists who usually do not go out and protest, went out to bring attention to this matter because the situation is getting extreme.
- Recently on July 21, 2022, The Guardian released a news article which brought awareness to the general public about Kylie Jenners 17-min Flight on her private jet plane.
- After people on Twitter gave her backlash for this, she didn't even bother with a simple apology but instead posted another Instagram picture with Travis Scott captioning it you wanna take mine or your? regarding their jets.
- Well did you know that because you didn't want to wait those 45-minutes instead, you resulted in a ton of carbon dioxide emissions, which, while in itself not a huge amount, is about a quarter of the total annual carbon footprint of the average person globally. (The Guardian)
- Now Kylie, why did you decide to take a 17-minute jet flight instead of going with your car instead?
- I didn't want to get stuck in traffic, I would have had to wait a whole 45 minutes. This was just a faster way.
