- Well, he wanted to touch this girl's dress. When he did she screamed and he got scared and wouldn't let go. When he finally did she said she got raped. We had to leave because everyone was looking for him.
- What did Lennie do in Weed?
- Let me keep him George. I'll take him back to his mam. I didn't mean no harm.
- Give the puppy to me. You cant take him away from his mama.Alright, but don't you take 'im out again.
- If you want me to, I’ll put the old devil out of his misery right now and get it over with. Ain’t nothing left for him. Can’t eat, can’t see, can’t even walk without hurtin’.

- Slim asks George about what happened in Weed and why they had to leave. George tells him everything.

- “S’pose I went in with you guys. Tha’s three hunderd an’ fifty bucks I’d put in. I ain’t much good, but I could cook and tend the chickens and hoe the garden some.
- Carlson asks Candy if he wants him to put his dog out of its misery because he can hardly do anything without it hurting. Candy sadly agrees.
- Leggo his hand, Lennie. Leggo. Slim, come help me while the guy got any hand left.
- Lennie asks George to tell him about the place they are going to live after they get enough money. Candy listens to the conversation while he is laying in bed.
- Candy asks George about the place and asks if he could go with them if he puts in the three hundred and fifty bucks he has saved up. George thinks about it and thinks it's possible.
- Curley gets mad at Lennie because he thinks he is laughing at him and he attacks him. George tells him to make him stop and Lennie starts crushing Curley's hand by accident. George tries to get him to stop but he doesn't. Curley later goes to the hospital.
