Oepdipus' parents saw an oracle and were told their son would be their demise. So they sent a servant to pin Oedipus’ ankles together and leave him to die on top of a mountain. But the servant couldn't go through with it and took him to the Rulers of Cornith.
Later when Oedipus' was grown and adopted by the King and Queen of Cornith he went to an oracle to see what his future would be like. He was warned he would kill his parents thinking about the ones he's living with and not his biological.
Oedipus decided to leave and to avoid killing his father and marrying his mother. But on his way to Thebes, he crossed a chariot with King Lias who is his biological father but not knowing it. After the King shoved him on the side of the road. Oedipus ended up killing King Lais out of anger.
Oedipus feeling confident after killing a King on the side of the road. He wanted to give the Sphinx's riddle a shot which takes a lot of courage because if you are wrong she kills you. Oedipus did guess her riddle and defeat the Sphinx. And the prize was to marry the widowed Queen of Thebes.
Oedipus then inherits the throne and marries Queen Jacosta, which is his biological mother. They eventually have 2 daughters (Antigone and Ismene) and 2 sons (Eteocles and Polynices).
Oedipus finds out everything he has done to his family and city's he's been involved with. Queen Jacosta commits suicide when learning the news. And Oedipus stabs his eyes out because he's so upset. Antigone and Ismene lead Oedipus out of town and into a desert where he eventually dies and leaves his kids/siblings to figure this all out
