Tensions where high in Boston. The British where guarding the house that they stored all the tax money. The colonist got mad so they threw rocks and shouted at the British. The British started to fire at the colonists. This is called the Boston massacre and this led to the American revolution
French and Indian War 1754 to 1763
The British government began taxing the colonists for importing products. The colonists didn't like that so they decided to dump the tea in to the water. The result of this was the Intolerable Acts.
Tea Act 1773
The British tried to mess up the American military supplies. Paul Revere alerted the American military about what was happening and the went to Lexington but the colonist already were there waiting for them. No one knows who actually took the first shot. This let to the 8 year American Independence
Townsend Act 1767
The French and Indian War was the result of France and Great Britain’s conflict over the Ohio River Valley and other territory. Although neither nation had colonists living in the region, both wanted to trade furs with the Native Americans who lived there. To protect their fur trade, the French built several forts in the region prior to the war, but Great Britain sent in troops to capture these forts These taxes would lead to an even larger conflict, the American Revolution.
These acts put a tax on many popular imports to America, such as glass, lead, paper, and tea. The colonists resisted. They felt they should not pay taxes to a distant government in which they had no representation
Charles Townsend, the head of the Treasury in Great Britain, enacted The Townsend Acts. He created them in an attempt to raise money for England and assert that the British retained full power over the American colonies. The Townsend Acts and the Boston Massacre greatly angered the colonists and rallied them to fight in the Revolutionary War.
