Storyboard Text

  • the freezer keeps my ice cream cold as the coolant traveling around the fridge absorbs heat through evaporation and condensation. Convection is used to circulate the cold air around the food. Air is cooled by the freezer compartment at the top of the fridge. As it sinks, it is replaced by warmer air rising from below. This forms a convection current, eventually cooling down the whole fridge.
  • my ice cream feels cold as the heat from my hand transfers to the ice cream through conduction. Heat from my hand heats up the particles in the ice cream, making them vibrate more vigorously, colliding with neighboring particles and transferring some of their energy to them, heating up the ice cream and making my hands feel cold.
  • the aircon cools down the room by cooling down the hot air. Cooler air is denser and sinks, while warmer air rises. the warmer air cools down from the aircon, and sinks. the originally cooler air now rises, replacing the originally warmer air, and the cycle repeats until the whole room has cooled down.
