- Rainsford hears gunshots, and decides to go investigate. While doing so, he accidentally falls off the yacht into the cold water. He proceeds to stumble upon Ship Trap Island, now examining the surface. He notices that there is only one building on the island with light and approaches it.
- The Most Dangerous Game
- Two hours then I'm coming!
- The first person Rainsford see's is Ivan. When Rainsford attempts to communicate with Ivan, Ivan sheds no response. Suddenly, a tall handsome figure approaches, a hunter known as General Zaroff. He welcomes the lost Sanger inside his home, and offers food and shelter.
- Traps
- General Zaroff and Rainsford have a discussion about hunting when General Zaroff states something odd, that he doesn't hunt animals that can't reason before instinct. Rainsford confused, finally realizes what the General is referring to. General Zaroff hunts humans.
- The Final Battle
- Rainsford is forced to participate in "The Most Dangerous Game" where he is provided materials to survive while being hunted by General Zaroff. If he wins, then he gets to go back off the island. If not then he dies.
- Running through the jungle trying to develop a strategy, Rainsford realizes that both Ivan and General Zaroff are both on his tail. He decides to create a trap he learned to make in Uganda, which ends up killing Ivan. After that General Zaroff started running around searching for Rainsford. He thinks he's dead, but little does he know Rainsford jumped off the cliff and was swimming back up to shore for a surprise attack.
- Rainsford challenges General Zaroff to a final battle, which will determine who will win "The Most Dangerous Game" and who sleeps on the general's comfy bed. The battle was faint, but all Rainsford remembers is that "He had never slept in a better bed" (Connell).
