This Is God's curse on slavery!— a bitter, bitter, most accursed thing! —a curse to the master and a curse to the slave. I was a fool to think I could make anything good out of such a deadly evil.
This is a part of the opening scene of Uncle Toms Cabin. It shows Mr. and Mrs. Shelby, two plantations owners who have always vowed to educate and treat their slaves "better than their free life could be". However, when financial struggles hit the Shelby's they had to sell two slaves, Tom and Harry. This crushed them, showing that slavery is a curse that shoves humanity/values out the window.

Oh Harry, I'm scared too. We will be okay. Using the Underground Railroad, we have safety homes and many nice people to help us, like the Senator and his wife.
Eliza, the mother of Harry, is escaping up north to save Harry from being sold. Her husband, unaware of Harry's selling, previously fled north. With the aid of the underground railroad, she moves up north slowly and safely.

I wish for all the servants on this plantation to be saved, so they can join me in heaven. Father, my last wish is for my dear, dear friend Tom to be freed please.
Eva, Mr. and Mrs. Shelby's kid, is ill and on her death bed. Her last wish is for Tom to be freed, but this is not fulfilled because Augustine is stabbed and the ownership of the slaves is handed over to a harsh southerner.
