  • ’Mvoo′ Laa′na and his mother were poor ever since his father died.
  • To have food ’Mvoo′ Laa′na set up traps to catch animals to eat and sell.
  • He found many animals but one day he came to the trap and there was an ape. The ape begged him to let it go. The ape said, Save me from the rain, that I may come and save you from the sun some day.” when the ape climbed the tree he then gave some advice. Believe me, men are all bad. Never do a good turn for a man; if you do, he will do you harm at the first opportunity.”
  • The next day a snake was found in the trap. When the boy was about to get someone to kill the snake the snake said "Let me out of this trap, I pray you. Save me from the rain to-day, that I may be able to save you from the sun to-morrow, if you should be in need of help.”
  • do not trust any man; if you do him a kindness he will do you an injury in return at the first opportunity.”
  • The third day there was a lion stuck in the trap. When the boy was about to run away the lion said "“Don’t run away; I am Sim′ba Kong′way, the very old lion. Let me out of this trap, and I will not hurt you. Save me from the rain, that I may save you from the sun if you should need help.”
  • “Son of Adam, you have been kind to me, and I will repay you with kindness if I can; but never do a kindness to a man, or he will pay you back with unkindness.”
  • The next day he went deeper into the forest and got lost. but then the lion, ape, and snake helped him. the ape and lion gave him food but the snake gave him gold.
  • The boy went to stay with a man. The man thought there was something weird about the stories the boy told. but hen the snake came and cleared it all of. So moral of the story be careful of who you trust.
