An unusual being fell from the sky; it appeared as half fish, half tortoise. Was this a gift from the gods, the fish, and the tortoises wondered?
In the beginning of time, the world was cared for by tortoises. The land was a lush green forest with crystal blue rivers. The rivers were full of gold like fish that kept the rivers flowing. The tortoises cared for one another and were selfless. The land was of the greatest prosperity. The fish and tortoise thrived and lived in harmony.
They prayed upon their gods Testudo and Piscis, the tortoise and fish God. The tortoises and fish gave the gods many offerings, such as the purest wine and the most abundant crops. In return, the gods gifted their people with delicacies every full moon.
The people asked the gods, “What is this being what do we do with it Testudo and Piscis, please answer us!” The gods would not respond, leaving the tortoises and fish in confusion. For days, the people prayed, begging for answers.
If the gods were not pleased with their offerings, they would cause loathsome thunderstorms upon their people. This happened very rarely, but during one rainstorm something unusual happened.
“It couldn't be, it fell with the rain, it must be something despicable,” the elder tortoise spoke.
