  • The Scorch Trialsby James Dashner
  • James Dashner was born on November 26, 1972 in Austell, Georgia, as one of six children in the family. He was raised a Mormon. At the age of 10, he would type on his parents' typewriter. He graduated from Duluth High School in 1991. He moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Provo, Utah to study at Brigham Young University, where he received a master's degree in accounting. Dashner and his wife, Lynette Anderson, a former student of Brigham Young University have four children and are now living in Utah.

  • The Setting is the Scorch
  • The scorch can be called the end of the world. It is a broken city that is rough and tough.
  • Thomas,the main character of the story. He is brave, strong, fast, and never gives up.
  • Newt is like a co leader; he's smart and brave.
  • Teresa is trusted in the beginning but betrays them.
  • Some other character are Newt,Minnow,Fred and Teresa. They are friends of Thomas. They all escaped together.
  • Minnow is fast and smart and will do any thing for his friends.
  • Fred is kind and the big guy of the group; he is also good with his hands.
  • Jorge and Brenda are leaders of a group that is frighting to survive.
  • Jorge is like a dad to Brenda.

  • Janson is one of the leaders of WCKD; he is mean and selfish.

  • In the conflict, WCKD is trying to capture certain kids and use them for experiments. The kids are always on the run, trying to stay free.
  • After escaping one trap, soldiers loaded the kids onto a helicopter. They were brought to a base run by Janson. Upon arrival, Janson explained "that his team would help take them to a new world."
  • Then Thomas, still suspicious, found out that Janson was a liar and this was just another trap.
  • Thomas and his friends escaped from Janson's base and went looking for a resistance group called "The Right Hand."
  • "We need to harvest the blood of the kids, even if it kills them."
  • While running, they meet a group of survivors who agree to help then escape. However, WCKD finds them and raids their hideout. Luckily, the kids escape but Thomas and Brenda get separated from the group.
  • "We will help you kid if you get us in with The Right Hand."
  • The kids eventually regroup and find the The Right Hand. The fighters are happy to have the kids join them. However, Teresa betrays them to WCKD. She gives their location and WCKD launches an attack.
  • WCKD attacked with many soldiers and helicopters. The Right Hand tried to fight back but they were not strong enough. WCKD captured many of the kids and killed many of the resistance fighters. However, Thomas and his friends fought back. They escaped and vowed to free the kids taken captive.
  • "They rounded them up like pigs in a pen."
  • "The bullets flew like someone running. in a field."
  • I believe the theme is to work as a team.
  • I think this book was really good. I would suggest it to people who like a scare but also a thrill.
