  • It's about factoring a perfect square trinomial
  • Hey, are you ready for our test for tomorrow?
  • Ofcourse bro, No problem.
  • Test?! What test?!
  • OH NOO!!! I didn't review wel bro, can you teach me?
  • First of all in factoring a perfect square trinomial is we must first look if the first and last terms of the trinomial are perfect squares. Then next is to multiply the roots of the first and third terms together, then compare to the middle terms with the result of step two, If the first and last terms are perfect squares, and the middle term's coefficient is twice the product of square roots of the first and last terms, then the expression is a perfect square trinomial.
  • Then next is to write out the terms (i) a2 + 2ab + b2 = (a + b)2 = (a + b) (a + b)(ii) a2 – 2ab + b2 = (a – b)2 = (a – b) (a – b)
  • Example is x2+ 6x + 9 lets factor this, We can rewrite the expression x2 + 6x + 9 in the form a2 + 2ab + b2 as;x2+ 6x + 9 ⟹ (x)2 + 2 (x) (3) + (3)2Applying the formula of a2 + 2ab + b2 = (a + b)2 to the expression gives;= (x + 3)2= (x + 3) (x + 3).That's it! I hope you understand the way that I explain hehehe...Study it again this night and surely we will get high scores on our test for tomorow!
  • Well, Thank you for teaching me bro, Hope we'll get high remarks tomorrow. And surely I'll study tonight.
