- Here Haroun, take this Bite-a-Lite

- They all look like shadows, since their outline are fuzzy. This must be the shadow Khattam- Shud!
- Haroun, Iff, and Butt got captured by the Chupwalas once they reached the south pole. They are being taken to the ship of the cult master Khattam- Shud.
- SSS!(Here is that bird's brain, sir)
- Spies. What a tiresome dilemma.
- The chupwalas remove the brain from Butt the Hoopoe and then escort Haroun and Iff up to the deck of Khattam-Shud's ship. During this time, Iff secretly give Haroun a Bite-A-Lite which would given off light for 2 minutes when bit into.
- I know you! You are that measly, weaselly Mr. Sengupta, the one who ran away with my mother!
- He's not Mr.Sengupta Haroun
- Stories misguide people and put make them believe false things!
- What is the use of stories at aren't even true?
- On Khattam- Shud's ship there are multiple pots holding poison. Tubes and machines are being used to dump that poison into the Ocean of the Stream of Stories.

- On the ship, Haroun notices that Khattam-Shud and the chupwalas all have shadowy outlines as though they aren't completly shadows or humans.
- Khattam- Shud explains how stories misguide people and lead to trouble. Haroun then realizes that Khattam-Shud may actually be Mr. Sengupta but Iff views that as impossiable.
- Khattam- Shud gives Haroun and Iff a tour of all the machines and processes he is using to create a anti-story for each story in the ocean.
