- Did you hear about the shoting that happened ealier this week?
- yeah.
- Yeah I did, very sad.
- Yeah same
- No, I did not know that. It’s really sad hearing about all these shootings nowadays. It really makes me question being outside sometimes.
- Yeah I agree
- Agreed.
- Did you know more people were shot to death in Chicago and surrounding Cook county in 2021 than in any other year on record.
- Yeah, same. What's even more interesting is in Chicago, where the vast majority of homicides involve guns, all but 85 of the 1,087 Cook County homicides were gun-related.
- Yeah I know. I think one day the number will drop, but it is still very depressing seeing the number rise. The only thing we can do is to right by ourselves and educate people around us.
- Wow?! That is so scary and makes me worry even more. I wonder if the number will ever drop? Is there really anything we can do to help fix it?
- No, I did not know that. Hearing these statistics and facts makes me want to get more involved with my community and be more aware and educated so that way I can help spread awareness.
- I wish I could snap my fingers and everything would be fixed.
- Did you know in Chicago where we live there have been 820 homicides, and currently 4,390 people were shot? That's an increase of 8% from last year and 68% more than 2019.

- I became interested in gun violence because that's how I lost my best friend, a shooting. Ever since then I’ve made it my mission to do everything in my power to help the community lower the shooting rates because I don’t want anyone to feel what I felt when I lost my best friend.
