- The last time John and Antonapoulos walk together
- John Singer is walking Antonapoulos, his only friend and the one person he can communicate with, to the bus station so he can go to a mental Asylum his cousin forced him into. Antonapoulos has mental issues and doesn't understand the situation. Singer is sad he can't help his friend
- Jake being drunk confides in Singer, a deaf mute, and feels that Singer understands him.
- Singer falling into a depression after Antonopoulos leaving visits Biffs Café every day. This is where jake Blount interacts with John singer for the first time and confides in him about his viewpoints that nobody understands and laughs at him for.
- Biff after his wife dies visits singer and is the only one that asks Singer about himself instead of talking to him
- Mick Kelly, neighbor of John Singer
- Kelly is upset at the fact she can't afford a proper instrument to satisfy her love of music. Her family doesn't understand her.
- Inside the box is a Ukulele she tried to make unsuccessfully

- Portia Dr. Copeland
- Portia makes comments to her father that make him cry. She just doesn't understand him and his frustration about racial injustice.
- All at different times
- Each Character goes to see Singer at times to confide in him as they all feel alone for reasons each has.
- ?? They're awfully awkward and silent
- Singer, Biff, Kelly, Dr. Copeland, and Blount
- Biff, Dr. Copeland, Kelly, and Blount all show up to talk to Singer but none speak and seem awkward around each other. Which is in contrast to when do they see Singer alone, they speak freely. They struggle to communicate around people

- John Singer goes to visit his friend at the mental Hospital but this time finds out he has passed away
- I'm sorry to inform you that Mr. Antonapoulos has passed

- After everybody loses the person they talk, they each have to move on with life
