- Hey, look! The hill looks different than last yearso erosion is like nature slowly taking the ground away
- EROSION- means when wind, water, or ice slowly wears away the land.
- Yeah, that’s erosion. it takes a long time, but it really changes things.

- Rain, wind, or ice can move things like dirt and small rocks (sediment) from one place to another.
- Sediment – pieces of soil or rock that get moved around by erosion.
- Whoa! That water’s carrying all the dirt downhill."

- Do you see those trees cut down? When people cut down trees (deforestation), it accelerates erosion because there are no roots to hold the soil in place.
- If we keep cutting trees, won’t the ground wash away?
- "Exactly! Trees help keep the soil in place, so when they’re gone, it’s easier for the ground to get washed away.
