Storyboard Text

  • George Washington found the French building their own post, Fort Duquesne, in the Ohio River Valley. In response, Washington had a stockade, Fort Necessity, built only 40 miles away.
  • I spotted Fort Duquesne!
  • British General Edward Braddock was commander of the British forces in North America. He selected George Washington to be his aide. Braddock ended up dying so Washington held the forces together enough for a retreat. The Lenni-Lenape were emboldened by the ambush the French had on the British as they had began attacking British settlers in Pennyslvania.
  • ATTACK!!!!!
  • At the Albany Conference, the Iroquois Nation refused an alliance with the British, but they did offer some support. The Albany Plan of Union was proposed developed by a committee led by Benjamin Franklin.
  • I propose we form a federal government.
  • JOIN OR DIE!!!!!!!
  • Join or Die was the first published political cartoon. Benjamin Franklin made it in order to gain support for the Albany Plan of Union. However, it didn't work.
  • “I am sure I can save this country, and nobody else can.”
  • After William Pitt became secretary of state and leader of the British House of Commons, the British started taking control of the war. The generals he sent to America were successful in battling the French armies there.
  • The Seven Years War ended with the British on top. The Treaty of Paris 1763 signified the official stop of the war. Britain gained much of France's land. Indigenous People weren't included in the negotiations.
