Soon, summer was over, and the first day of middle school was upon me.
I remember, my first class, I sat down and immediately started wondering:
Still, that night I promised myself:
As of date of publication, I have found VCS a place where I belong. Thanks to all support VCS.The End.
All I could do after that was to wait out the rest of the year until the summer.

This was elementary school me: average kid, happy, content and innocent.

I had a close group of around 5 friends. We enjoyed messing around together at recess and lunch.

Life was good. I had a sense of belonging with the people I had in my life.

Graduation came quickly though, and the comfort that I once knew stayed behind.
Please congratulate the Class of 2023!
Woo! *Clap clap clap* Go class of 2023!!

Happy 1st Day! 🎉

How are there so many people? Where are all my friends? Everything is so new...
Slide: 7
Most of my friends were busy greeting their other friends from elsewer, so they went their own ways.

Is middle school like this for everyone?
When the first day ended, I was surprised by the feeling like I'd been left out.
Slide: 9
After a few days though, my elementary school friends and I got back together and introduced each other to new friends.
Hey Max! Good to see you.
Slide: 10
Nice to meet you, George.
Wassup. Heard of the new computers at school yet?
Slide: 11
No, why?
Uhh- I think we're busy getting lunch. See ya around!
Slide: 12
However, their friends were different; they had a bunch of different interests, most of which I didn't agree with.
Slide: 13
As the weeks went by, I tried making new friends by checking out a few different groups.
Hey, mind if I join?
And if we plan it this way...

Uhh.. we're full.
-8 people are allowed. Sorry.
Slide: 15
*Sigh* Oh well..
Anyways, this weekend's gonna be fire...
Slide: 16
Sadly, it seemed like everyone was already busy or weren't keen on adding someone else to their group.
Slide: 17
Fast-forwards to 7th grade, I still had friends from elementary school, but they were far more comfortable and closer with their other friends than they were with me.
Slide: 18
I started being more to myself, and some kids picked up on it and made fun of me.
Ha! Look at the loser who sat out.
Slide: 19
George especially taunted me often, and it all came to a head this one day in P.E,when he yelled:
How about getting out of the way, nerd?!
Slide: 20
Then...
I still remember him shoving me to the ground to this day.
Slide: 21
I finally had the excuse to sock the person I wanted to most, but I held back because I knew that was going to cause more trouble.
Slide: 22
I'm gonna get out of there.
Slide: 23
Luckily, even before then, my parents were already thinking about switching schools, and after that, I was all for it.
Son, you know that we've been looking to move schools for awhile now...
Yeah, I'm totally on board!
That's great! We'll start applying soon.
Slide: 24
During spring break, I did a few of interviews and essays for school applications.
So, why apply for our school?
Just as I hoped for, I got accepted!
Slide: 26
At last, when summer started, I celebrated, not for the end of school, but knowing that I was finally leaving the place where I wasn't welcome.
Slide: 27
Midway through the summer, my elementary school friends decided to have a beach camp to meet up.
I said my final and most heartfelt goodbyes to the few friends who stuck with me.

As my 8th grade year started, so did my journey through my new school, Village Christian School.

My first week was amazing. I made so many new friends, just through being in class.

One specific class, band, was a wonderful tight-knit community that I truly grew into.

Being a private school, Village offered an assortment of sports, of which I chose to play both football and lacrosse my 8th grade year.
Both sports were a great team experience and helped me to get to know a lot of people, students and staff.

And plus, only 8th-
For sure, man..
Good to see you too, Heath! This is George, my friend from baseball.
K'now those blocked websites? There's a way to get around them, if-
Well, for me, a big part is the strong sense of community...
