- With new Stamp Act, you colonists will be taxed on any paper you purchase to help us get money after spending a lot on the war.

- A conflict between the French and Indians broke out and started a war, The French and Indian War, leaving Britain broke after they had won.

- What should we do now?
- We should declare independence from Britain so we can live on our own.
- As a way to pay for the costs of the war, Britain implemented The Stamp Act to tax the Colonists, but not give them more rights. This angered the Colonists and they declared "No Taxation Without Representation."
- The French Alliance(1777)
- You're pretty good for a group of colonists. We'll help you fight Britain and give supplies so you can earn your freedom.
- Britain planned an attack on the Colonists, but one of the Colonists, Paul Revere, overheard their plan. In panic, he rode to Lexington to warn the Colonists of the attack. Thanks to Revere, the Colonists were prepared for the battle.
- Battle of Yorktown - August-October1781

- The Second Continental Congress met to decide the Colonists' next move. They voted to declare independence from Britain and created the Declaration of Independence.
- After witnessing the Colonies' victory against Britain in the Battle of Saratoga, the French were convinced to join the Colonists and give supplies to fight against Britain, their old rival.
- The last battle took place at Yorktown, Virginia. After a long battle between the Colonists and the French against Britain, they started to close in on th British Army, eventually surrendering to George Washington.
