It is so nice to see you!
You too Aunt Lisa! Let's catch up over dinner.
Slide: 2
How is work?
Well, the office is thinking about using the cloud, but I'm not really sure what that is.
Slide: 3
I know about the cloud. Do you want me to give you a run down?
That would be great!
Slide: 4
Then let's take a trip to the cloud!
Let's go!
Slide: 5
The cloud is an "elastic leasing of pooled computer resources over the internet"
The cloud allows applications, data and processing power to be used remotely!
The cloud may be the future for many businesses, but it does still have its pro and cons.
Slide: 6
Let's take a look at this chart comparing the PROS CONS of the cloud together.
PROS- Small capital requirements- Speedy development- Scalability - Disaster preparedness- No obsolescence- Focuses on core business
CONS- Dependency on vendor- No control over data location- Limited visibility into security and disaster preparedness
Slide: 7
That sounds awesome! It even seems like the PROS outweigh the CONS.
That may be true, but you also have to consider how well it will work at the clinic. Let's consider it together.
Slide: 8
For example, accessing patients' medical records would be much easier using the cloud.
Hmmm, okay.
Slide: 9
If the clinic was to use the cloud, patient data could be automatically updated and backed up.
I think it is starting to make sense now.
Slide: 10
Basically, the cloud has both positives and negatives, but its usefulness depends on where and how it is being used?
Yes, exactly. This is why you will want to sit down with staff and decide whether or not using the cloud is the right choice for the clinic.
Slide: 11
Thank you so much for your help understanding the cloud. I can't wait to share what I've learned with the clinic!
Of course! If you have more questions, text me.
Slide: 12
Thank you!
Bye Aunt Lisa! Goodluck with the cloud.

But medical data is really sensitive, and it’s hard to be sure it’s fully protected when you store it in the cloud.
However, if the internet or service provider went down, the hospital wouldn’t be able to access any records at all.
