Jaylin…you and Kyla were actually kind of annoying today. I know you were having fun, but it gets really frustrating when we’re trying to plan or figure something complicated out and there’s people talking over one another. You guys were funny, though. Just try not to lose it like you and Kyla did today, ‘kay? It makes it a lot easier on everybody.

Psh…we know, hahaa! You and Kyla wouldn’t shut up!
Guysss! The officer meet today was SO funny! Me and Kyla couldn’t take anything seriously, dude…she kept making me laugh!
. . .
It was a Tuesday afternoon. Me and two of my friends- Kendall and Camila- decided to go get lunch after our first meeting as a leadership team with the other officers and chairpeople of Jordan Theatre Company. There, we discussed our plan for implementing what we like to call “Houses” (it’s a system similar to Harry Potter’s). While we were struggling to assign names to our own original houses, me and my other friend- Kyla- fell at a standstill and couldn’t stop fooling around, coming up with silly and stupid names. This is the conversation that happened thereafter.

Oh…my…gosh. Yeah…I’m really, really sorry, Camila. I get so ticked off when people don’t take things seriously like that, so I can’t imagine how irritating earlier must’ve been for you. I just…I’m not used to having that much fun, y’know? Not excusing it, of course! It got out of hand, that’s all. Don’t worry- it won’t happen again. I’ll focus in next time- promise!
In the end, obviously both of my friends forgave me! With Camila’s honesty, I was reminded to humble myself in a working environment and recall that there’s always a time and place for everything. She understood my side of the story- that I wasn’t used to having so much fun- and above all recognized that I meant no harm behind it. She has been an officer before; this is her second year. Comparatively, this is my first year. I didn’t know any better, so I appreciated her judgement and guidance. She could relate to me too, as I have had to tell her to take things seriously more often in the past before. All in all, I’m so lucky to have people like this in my life. These are really MY people; I’d give the world for them. :)
